BlueScope Chair, Jane McAloon, today announced two further changes to the BlueScope Board, with the retirement of non-executive director, Peter Alexander, and John Nowlan standing for election as a non-independent non-executive director.

Ms McAloon said “Following a review of his commitments, Peter has decided not to stand for re-election at the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November.

“Since his appointment to the Board in September 2022, Peter has brought thoughtful perspectives and deep industry knowledge, especially in relation to North American building and construction markets. We are grateful for his valuable contributions and extend our best wishes for the future on behalf of the Board, our people, and shareholders.”

Ms McAloon also announced that Mr Nowlan will stand for election as a Non-executive Director at the AGM, following his recent retirement from his executive position after a near 50-year career at BlueScope. The Board fully supports Mr Nowlan standing for election, acknowledging that while he would not be an independent director, he would bring critical industry and operational experience.

“John’s skills and experience will further enhance the quality of the BlueScope Board. He has had an outstanding career at BlueScope and has been instrumental in several significant events that ultimately secured the Company’s future. Beyond his extensive operational expertise in steelmaking and manufacturing, John will help maintain BlueScope’s institutional memory, an asset that will greatly benefit the Board during the Company’s next phase of growth and strategic execution.” Ms McAloon said.

Mr Nowlan said, “I’m excited by the opportunity and privilege of joining the Board of BlueScope. I’m a passionate supporter of BlueScope and look forward to working with the Board to support the Company’s ambitious growth path.”

While Mr Nowlan would be a non-independent Director if elected, the Board will maintain its majority of independent Directors and remains committed to the highest standards of governance.
