BlueScope Managing Director and CEO Tania Archibald today announced the appointment of Robin Davies as Chief Executive of the Company’s Australian and New Zealand businesses.

Mr Davies will lead over 8,500 employees across the Australian Steel Products and New Zealand and Pacific Islands businesses, which have a combined annual production of more than 3.7 million tonnes and revenues of over $7 billion.

Ms Archibald said, “Robin is a world class steel executive with unrivalled industry, operational and leadership experience, including at Tata Steel Europe, leading the major expansion of BlueScope’s flagship US facility North Star, and currently leading the New Zealand and Pacific Islands business as it secured its long-term viability with the transition to Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel production.

“Robin has a deep understanding of our business, our people and our markets, having worked for BlueScope for nearly 20 years. He brings a strong record of delivery, with a consistent focus on safety, customer service, cost discipline and operational performance.

“As BlueScope transitions its major capital spend program to operational execution as a lean agile manufacturer, now is the right time for us to consolidate leadership of the Australian and New Zealand businesses,” Ms Archibald said.

Mr Davies said, “I am excited by the opportunity to lead the Australia and New Zealand businesses into their next chapter, with a focus on our people, our customers, and operational excellence. I’m also committed to uplifting safety performance and delivering on the major capital projects across the businesses.

“This is a time of significant progress for BlueScope. In Australia, the reline of the Port Kembla blast furnace is nearing completion and secures the future of ironmaking in the Illawarra; the new Metal Coating Line in Western Sydney is approaching start up, and the Port Kembla Plate Mill Upgrade Project is substantially advanced with processing upgrades already in operation and final furnace upgrades to come on line in mid calendar 2027.

“In New Zealand, the new electric arc furnace is now in commissioning and will materially improve cost competitiveness and sustainability, with capability of producing some of the world’s lowest carbon emissions steel.

“These major projects, combined with the capability of our people, and strength of our brands give me great confidence about the future of the businesses,” Mr Davies said.

Mr Davies will commence in the Chief Executive, Australia and New Zealand role on 1 July 2026 and will be based in NSW. In the interim, Gerald Cornelius will continue in the role of Interim Chief Executive, Australian Steel Products. BlueScope thanks Mr Cornelius for his leadership and contribution to the Executive Leadership Team since November 2025.
