Our New Zealand & Pacific Island businesses
The New Zealand and Pacific Island businesses comprise of New Zealand Steel, who since 1968 has been New Zealand’s sole producer of flat rolled steel products, with both the Steelworks and offices located in rural town of Glenbrook, about 60km south of Auckland city. The mine site is located at Waikato North Head, in close proximity to the Steelworks; Pacific Steel, whose rolling mill is also located in Auckland, is New Zealand’s only manufacturer of wire rod, reinforcing bar and coil products, manufacturing for over 50 years; and Steltech Structural, a specialist business focusing on the design & manufacture of custom welded beams and columns, located in Takanini, Auckland. The Pacific Island business are located in Fiji, New Caledonia and Vanuatu, manufacturing and distributing the LYSAGHT® range of flat steel products and long steel products through Pacific Steel Fiji. Collectively the New Zealand and Pacific Island businesses employ around 2000 people.

New Zealand Steel, the only fully integrated steel producer in New Zealand, uses locally sourced iron sand to manufacture about 670,000 tonnes of steel slab and billet a year at the Glenbrook Steelworks, south of Auckland.

Pacific Steel have been locally producing high quality products for more than 60 years. As New Zealand’s only manufacturer of wire rod, reinforcing bar and coil, most of its steel is destined for foundations, structures and fence lines around New Zealand.
