Board Changes

BlueScope Chair, Ms Jane McAloon AM, today announced two significant changes to the Board with the retirement of long-standing non-executive director, Mr Ewen Crouch AM, and the appointment of US-based Ms Cheri Phyfer as non-executive director.

Ms McAloon said “Ewen has been an outstanding director for more than 12 years, providing invaluable counsel and guiding the Company through cyclical challenges and several acquisitions to position it with a strong balance sheet and a great platform for growth.”

“Ewen undertook a heavy workload for the Company as a member of the Board and several Committees. On behalf of the Board, employees and shareholders, we thank him for his service and wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Mr Crouch will retire from the Board effective from the close of the 2025 Annual General Meeting in November.

Ms McAloon said the Company is delighted to welcome Ms Cheri Phyfer to the Board, providing further US commercial experience, building products experience and networks.

“Cheri Phyfer has deep experience as a C-suite executive at building products companies Fortune Brands Innovations and Sherwin-Williams, where she led teams both in the US and offshore. She has navigated businesses through changing consumer environments and has worked with branded products for most of her career”, Ms McAloon said.

“Having held non-executive directorships with three overseas entities in recent years, Ms Phyfer brings experience in public and private enterprises and I’m sure will make a strong contribution to the BlueScope Board. We look forward to all that Cheri can bring to BlueScope, particularly as we progress our ambitious growth plans in North America.”

Ms Phyfer said “My consumer and branded products experience is well aligned with BlueScope’s ambitions for North American coated and painted steel building products.  I am excited to be joining the BlueScope Steel Board and look forward to being a part of its focus on creating and inspiring smart solutions in steel for the future.”

Ms Phyfer’s appointment will take effect from 1 October 2025, and Ms Phyfer will nominate for election at the 2025 Annual General Meeting.
