This week BlueScope achieved first “metal on strip” at its new Metal Coating Line 7 (MCL7) facility at Erskine Park in Western Sydney, marking a major milestone in the transition from construction to production start-up at the plant.

The flagship facility will add up to 240,000 tonnes of metal coating capacity, supporting growth in BlueScope's coated steel portfolio, including COLORBOND® and TRUECORE® steel products.

BlueScope Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Tania Archibald said, "MCL7 is a state-of-the-art metal coating facility designed to support the needs of our customers in the fast growing Western Sydney region. 

“BlueScope is proud to lead industry investment in modern manufacturing capability, with one of the most advanced metal coating lines in the world. It’s a credit to the 400-strong team who have built this world-class facility. Our focus now is on ramping up production,” said Ms Archibald.
