Recent rain in the Illawarra has most likely contributed to a recent boom in the Green and Gold Bell Frog population at the Port Kembla Steelworks. BlueScope has a purpose-built facility on the outskirts of the plant to look after the endangered species.
There have been no significant sightings at the pond for around seven years - but they're now making a comeback. It's not unusual to see around a dozen or so at any point of times happily resting on the reeds within the pond.
