BlueScope Malaysia, together with business partners and NGOs, has launched CONNACTION - Continuous In Action - to improve the lives of the people in the communities where BlueScope operates.

The launch of CONNACTION was hosted by His Excellency Mr Rod Smith, the Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, who congratulated BlueScope on its business success in Malaysia, and commended the Company for its strong commitment to the community.

The CONNACTION partners will work together to re-roof homes of those in the community who would otherwise be unable to afford a new roof.

“It is not just about the homes, but more importantly the people who live in them and who make up our communities,” said Pongsak Padungkarn, Country President BlueScope Malaysia.

“We have been in Malaysia since 1995, and all our permanent employees are locals,” continued Pongsak.  “The well-being of our people and their families, our business partners and neighbourhoods is critical to us.  This is how we define our communities.”

Pongsak also thanked BlueScope Lysaght Malaysia for its pioneering support of CONNACTION.

The first CONNACTION project was in collaboration with the Engineers Without Borders, Monash University Malaysia Student Chapter, and saw all parties installing and retro-fitting steel structures, roofing and wall cladding for the Positive Living Community in Batu Arang, Selangor.
