Rebuilding after Cyclone PamMonday, November 23, 2015
Lysaght Pacific Islands and New Zealand Steel have donated roofing materials to help rebuild eight schools damaged by Cyclone Pam in March this year.
BlueScope’s office in Noumea has been working closely with local authorities to ensure that the materials went to the most severely damaged schools.
Without BlueScope’s help, the schools would not be able to afford the cost of the materials themselves.
In all, BlueScope Lysaght donated 19 tons of ZINCALUME® steel, while New Zealand Steel supplied 37.4 tons of pre-painted steel.
The aim is to ensure that the children are back in the school buildings and out of tent classrooms before the onset of the next cyclone season.
