New Zealand Steel supports Giant Poppy project

Poppy 2.JPG

New Zealand Steel is a proud sponsor of the Giant Poppy Art installation which marks the centenary of the First World War.

The Giant Poppy, being built in Auckland, will be the world’s largest poppy - a football field in size.  It will comprise 59,000 COLORSTEEL® red metal discs, donated by New Zealand Steel, to honour each one of the New Zealand men and women who were killed or wounded in the First World War.

New Zealanders are invited to visit the Giant Poppy and receive a disk in return for making a donation to the RSA (Returned and Services' Association).  They can then write a message on the disc and place it as part of the poppy build.

Those not able to participate in person will be able to make a donation online, and a disc will be placed on their behalf.

Andrew Garey, General Manager New Zealand Steel, represented the Company at the launch in Auckland.
