New Zealand:  New Zealand Steel is a supporting organisation of the nationwide Trees for Survival Charitable Trust (TfS) to link school children to growing and planting native trees.   The Company has sponsored the purchase of compact and purpose designed growing units to fit into school grounds. Each school grows around 1500 seedlings into small plants each year.  The young trees are planted on private land, farms, lifestyle blocks or erosion print land, riparian (streamside) or wetland areas by students (along with teachers, parents and NZ Steel representatives).
