Meet Brad, Business Development Manager

Working for BlueScope Flat Steel Products in New South Wales, Brad has long-term experience in the industry and is proud to sell company brands such as COLORBOND® steel. He took the time to chat with us.

What brought you to BlueScope?

I’ve now been at BlueScope for two years and the broader steel industry for 20 years. For 12 years, I worked for an importer and so I’ve come back to selling a product that is tried and trusted and has a reputable name.

You’ve mentioned reputation—what else drew you to the company?

At BlueScope, yes, you’re selling a reputation as well as your belief in what you’re selling. That’s what drew me here. Selling the BlueScope and COLORBOND® steel brand names helps you to put a really positive spin on the sales process and I enjoy that.

How would you describe your day-to-day work?

Each day, I scope out new business and try to sell our branded products to customers who value our range and value proposition. We’re not selling on price; we’re selling the whole package. We sell the value of being a one-stop shop. I’m currently working with customers in infrastructure, air-conditioning, general fabrication, office furniture and laser-cutting. You need to know your products and be versatile.

Do you have any tips for people who are thinking of applying for a role at BlueScope?

BlueScope is a great place to work. There’s market stability and steel isn’t going to leave the country, so you have job security as well. It’s a very friendly environment here and we really focus on teamwork. Everyone here in Granville certainly works in a very collaborative manner.
