Meet Ash and Rayleen, Packline

Two fresh, young faces at BlueScope’s manufacturing site in Erksine Park are Ash and Rayleen. In the Western Sydney Service Centre, they both work together on the packline and had some thoughts to share with us on the training possibilities for new employees at the company.

Ash, how would you describe working at BlueScope?

I’ve gained a lot of experience and it’s good for young people (I’m only 19). I got my crane licence and I’ve only been here for about eight months, so they have great training and it’s a good environment to be in. I hope to be able to move around even more in the future.

Has your experience been similar, Rayleen? Have you had similar opportunities to receive training?

Yes and I find it quite positive to work at BlueScope. I’ve been here for a little over six months now and I’m doing my forklift training. I had my forklift licence before I came but no on-the-job experience, so over the last couple of weeks they’ve been getting me on the forklift and giving me all of the training that I need. It’s good to do that step-by-step with somebody. I’ve had a lot of training opportunities.
