A call to buy localMonday, June 29, 2020
John Nowlan, Chief Executive Australian Steel Products, was pleased to host the NSW Leader of the Opposition Jodi McKay MP and her colleagues Ryan Park MP, Shadow Minister for Health, Paul Scully MP, Shadow Minister for Natural Resources, and Anna Watson MP, Member for Shellharbour and Opposition Whip, at the Port Kembla Steelworks.
On this, her first visit to the Steelworks, Ms McKay took the opportunity to launch the State Opposition's 'NSW Made' campaign, calling for the NSW Government to purchase local steel for infrastructure projects.
Welcoming the initiative, John Nowlan commented that BlueScope has been asking government to, when making procurement decisions, consider the wider economic benefit of buying locally.
"This is about strengthening our communities for the future - not just for ourselves, but for our customers, suppliers and everyone who uses and relies on our products," he said.
