BlueScope supports Sport Access Foundation
BlueScope was delighted to host members of the Sport Access Foundation (SAF) at the Port Kembla Steelworks. A number of employees participated in sessions to help the SAF work through its strategic plan, consider funding options and identify sustainability challenges.
The SAF was established 2017 to provide grants to help young Australians living with a disability access and participate in sport. The founder of the Sport Access Foundation, Katie Kelly OAM, gold medallist at the Rio Paralympics, has been a participant in BlueScope’s ‘Change the Game’ program, which brings together elite female athletes and BlueScope employees for mutual learning and development opportunities over 12 months. The program shows the synergies between the sporting and corporate worlds. It helps athletes prepare for life after sport, while the next generation of BlueScope leaders learn about elite performance and the sacrifices athletes make to meet their goals and be successful. The program also supports the Company’s diversity strategy – to foster a talented workforce comprised of diverse opinion, background, education, culture, experience and beliefs.
