USA: For the past five years BlueScope employees have volunteered each month at the Kansas City Community Kitchen to help feed those in need. The Kitchen serves between 400 and 600 hot meals each day. and is a program of a local United Way agency primarily run by a volunteer base of over 400 people, who help with food preparation, serving, and cleaning up. The food is provided by a local food bank and donated by local merchants and individuals. The BlueScope Foundation supports the Community Kitchen with an annual grant towards the culinary training program, which helps provide job skills and employment services to those in need.
